Training
DARC has developed a comprehensive training program that equips warfighters with the essential skills, technologies and hands on experience required to sustain Department of War (DoW) systems at the point of need. Using modern manufacturing technologies such as metal additive, CNC machining and computer aided design (CAD), soldiers learn how to fabricate components and repair systems using the resources available to them in a forward deployed environment.
As military systems age and original equipment manufacturer support become increasingly constrained, the DoW faces mounting challenges in sustaining operational readiness. Traditional supply chains often result in extended lead times for replacement parts, creating vulnerabilities in mission-critical systems. This program empowers warfighters with the technical knowledge and practical skills in accordance with MIL-HDBK-115C standards to produce quality replacement components in-house, reducing dependence on external suppliers and dramatically improving response times.
Participants will gain proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure proper interpretation of technical drawings, additive manufacturing using polymer-based systems with metal infiltration sintering, Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) and Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing (CSAM) for large metal components, quality assurance and qualification protocols, advanced metrology grade scanning techniques to reproduce geometry, and optimized CAD and manufacturing workflows. Warfighters have the option to join an additional one-week training program through America’s Cutting Edge (ACE) on advanced CNC machining techniques, if desired.
This program positions the DoW to leverage distributed manufacturing capabilities, enabling depot-level maintenance facilities and forward-deployed units to rapidly produce mission-essential parts. The result is enhanced operational readiness, reduced logistics footprint, lower lifecycle costs, and increased strategic flexibility in vehicle sustainment operations.
Next Training Iteration
Our next training will be held Summer 2026. Please contact Rob Patterson at [email protected] for additional details. Registration information will be posted shortly.
Target Audience
This training is recommended for fabricators in all services across the DoW, but was tailored to U.S. Army 91E.
